What is Sexual Wellness?
What is sexual wellness? According to the World Health Organization, sexual wellness is a “state of physical, emotional, mental, and social well being concerning sexuality.” There are two main parts to sexual wellness: anatomical (how every part fits together) and physiological (how well every part works).
Important Sexual Wellness Points
Our FACOG board certified gynecologist with over twenty years in practice shares some important points about sexual wellness for you.
- Having struggles and sexual dysfunction is common
Sexual wellness does not come easily to alot of women. There is no specific right or wrong formula for what kind of sexual wellness someone “should” have. Because every individual is different, their health and health needs are different as well. Many women have issues and struggles such as low energy or self esteem due to their body image, and we understand that it can be a difficult subject to talk about sometimes. However, know that you are not alone in what you are experiencing. - There ARE solutions
With advanced technology and modern medicine, we have ways of extraordinarily efficient healthcare that can resolve your issues and symptoms. If you often feel irritated, have a weak bladder or vaginal /pelvic floor after childbirth, pain during intercourse, little to no sex drive, and many more, we can resolve it with different hormone replacement therapy, medication, minimally invasive modalities like DiVa laser rejuvenation and more. - Having and knowing about sexual wellness is a form of self care
Self care is so much more than what we see on the internet and social media. It is about taking care of our wellbeing from the inside out. This starts with being seen by a gynecologist who listens to you, and who you can trust and connect with on a deep level. - Impacts overall long-term health
Feeling happy about our anatomical and physiological parts and having pleasurable intimate experiences impacts our mood, mental and emotional health and self esteem as well. This is why it’s important to always see a trusted gynecologist regularly to address anything you’re experiencing by an expert in health.
